Rev. Dr. Wilbur D. Winborne Sr.

Rev. Dr. Wilbur D. Winborne Sr. serves as the Senior Pastor and Teacher of Nineteenth Street Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is committed to the authority of the Word of God, excellence in biblical preaching and teaching, Christian discipleship, pastoral care, and the spiritual growth of the local church.

A native of Southwest Philadelphia, Dr. Winborne attended Larchwood Seventh-day Adventist Christian Day School and Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s University, a Master of Divinity degree from Conservative Baptist Seminary of the East, and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Transformational Leadership from Bethel Seminary. He also holds a certificate in Biblical Counseling from the Christian Research and Development Biblical Counseling Program.

 

Dr. Winborne was licensed to preach in 1990 and ordained in 1993. Under the mentorship of Rev. Charles Walker, his father in the ministry and former pastor of Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, he served as Assistant to the Pastor and gained valuable experience in preaching, teaching, pastoral care, administration, and congregational ministry.

From 1997 through 2013, Dr. Winborne served as Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Woodbury, New Jersey. In 2014, he returned to Nineteenth Street Baptist Church and became its tenth pastor.

​

Dr. Winborne has served as an instructor in biblical studies, Christian education, and biblical counseling. His ministry reflects a continuing passion to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, explain the Scriptures clearly, develop Christian leaders, and help believers apply biblical truth to everyday life.

 

He is married to Rosa Lynn Winborne. They are the parents of three adult children: Wilbur Jr., Yvonne, and Novella. Their family also includes their daughter-in-love, Brittney, wife of Wilbur Jr., and two beloved granddaughters.

Outside of his pastoral responsibilities, Dr. Winborne enjoys cooking, hiking, and photography. He especially values his outdoor prayer walks as opportunities to reflect on Scripture, enjoy God’s creation, and seek the Lord’s direction.
